Uber-Stealth-Gree-commando or Pimpin-skiffy-scoundrel?

As I've told you before, I had some goals I want to accomplish with my Scoundrel. One of these was to change clothes into something that is more suitable for a Smuggler. My previous Gree armor is nice, but lacks the "Smuggler feeling". But thanks to the discount on the Interstellar set, I have now bought clothes that I personally like a lot!

My second goal was to get a new speeder. It worked out well because I was lucky enough to get a Skiff when I bought a Deputy Commandant's Contraband Pack! I do not know how big the chance is, but it was the second pack that I bought since the cartel shop was launched.

But but look do you like the best? Uber-Stealth Gree-commando or Pimpin-skiffy-scoundrel? :)

Scoundrel time!

With my Trooper at level 55 it's time to level up my Scoundrel. My plan is to max him out and see which one of the two chars I'll end up playing later on.

I have compiled a "todo" list with different kind of goals for my Scoundrel. I like to have goals, it makes me focus alot better on things :)

The list

- Get a better feel for the character, leveling up companions and do their quests.
I have played my Smuggler over numerous breaks from the game and because of this I have a somewhat shallow "feel" for the class. I want to dig deeper into this by doing companion quests etc.

- Fix a new cool looking speeder (GSI?).

I'm still using the free pre-order one that adepts to your speeder training.
http://dulfy.net/2013/04/20/swtor-gsi-speeder-guide/

- Better clothes, more Star Wars feel (Currently using Gree armor, fancy but not to star warsy...).

Yupp! The new Troublemaker robe looks awesome.

- Level up Cybertech for achievement

- Drop Cybertech and level up Biochem for reusable stims.
CBA to farm or gather so this suits me perfectly.

- Complete the whole story of Makeb on my Scoundrel.

-
Focus on scrapper for PVP and Sawbones for PVE.

- Complete
Seeker droid quests.

- Complete
Microbinoculars quests.

That is pretty much that. Let's see how this turns out...

A fresh start

It's been a while since I wrote in the blog. Lately I have played both Planetside 2 but mainly my new Scoundrel in SWTOR who is now 50. I also have a Juggernaut sitting at 34 after the double exp weekends. Jugg is a fun and great class to play.

Today, it's finally time for the first SWTOR expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel. The plan is to play my Vanguard as shield specc and se how that turns out. I will take it slow, exploring and not rushing the expansion. I will try to write entries along the way with focus on images from my adventures on Makeb.

Great scenery

A lot more vibrant and alive atmosphere

From the first heroic, great fun!

First heroic. Real fun.

Lord Calypho free transfer

Lately there have been discussion on the forums regarding free transfers from Lord Calypho, the server I am currently playing on and the only EU-English RP-PVP server.

We finally got our free transfer, but I was really upset when I found out that we are "forced" to move to Tomb of Freedon Nadd which are a PVP server. It makes no sense and a lot of the roleplayers are upset. The reason I rolled on a RP-PVP server was because I like do open world PVP with focus on RP.

Well lets see how this goes, Im still staying on Lord Calypho and am still hoping for a solution but I'm pretty sure that I eventually will be forced to move to Tomb of Freedon Nadd and then later do a payed transfer to The Progenitor. :(

Roleplayers are often the most loyal followers in MMO's, but we also are the most neglected ones...
I believe that we need to train on our "forum rage" a bit so that devs hear us :)

Chasing datacrons

I'm both playing Diablo 3 atm and trying to get my remaining datacrons on each planet. This time I am using a list with all useful Trooper datacrons. I'm currently Datacron-hunting on Corellia.

I didn't what to cheat at first, but I gave up after hours of looking on my own.

The list is here.

Here I am with the cunning datacron on Corellia.

This one is real frustrating to get, you need to blow off a cannister excactly right so you fly over to the datacron. Trying for the 3rd time as we speak :)

Routinely conduct in SWTOR

Why is always the same pattern repeated in a MMO where I PVP? Although there are 100's of different things to do, it is always easier to just jump into a Warzone and play than trying to do something different and create a group for quests, flashpoints etc.
Sometimes I believe that I would simply have more fun if I just focused more on PVE and saved PVP to games that focus solely on it... like Daoc, Warhammer and Guild Wars 2.

Do not misunderstand me, I like PVP in SWTOR and have fun playing it, but it tends to wear me out a lot faster these days, same also happened in Rift and WOW. Unfortunately routinely conduct coming from this prevents
me from doing something else and it's hard to be creative when you are tired and have about 30 minutes left before going to bed.
That's why I was so surprised after testing Lotro a year ago. I unexpectedly fell in love with it even if it was a PVE game. It had great community, roleplaying and sandboxing.

Back to SWTOR! When reading the patch notes for 1.2, I say to myself: "Okay, So where is all this new stuff?" Well, everything is there, I just have to stop taking the easy route and try new things, even if the Story mode flashpoint does not give me better gear, it will at least give me a great experience. Just look at the Rakghoul flashpoint, I had a blast playing Kaon Under Siege. Now I just need to g
et the thumb out of my ass and do the next one.

Beside from all this, I’m guessing I just wanted a discussion, my Agent is now level 10 and I have chose Sniper as advanced class. I also ran a little PVP yesterday with my Trooper and had some nice games. I’m currently playing as Assault again after being Tactics for a while. Both build are real fun!

I must also add that I’m very disappointed when it seems that Elder Scrolls Online will be another standard MMO. I was really hoping for Skyrims graphics in a sandbox environment... But I’ll guess we have to see how it will evolve.

So anyone else feeling they need to throw things around in order not to get caught up in the same routine? Or maybe you can share some tips that prevents this? Share your thoughts!

Imperial Agent

Yesterday I started my first Sith Empire character, a Imperial Agent going for Sniper! From movies, games, books I have always had thing "thing" for snipers, so the choice was quite natural.

Since I have trouble playing evil characters, I will see how it is to play a "evil side" character as lightsided. My agents backstory is that he are an double agent for the Republic. No heavy-RP but just a backstory that justifies why I will play him as lightsided.

I haven't really played him more then a few levels and if I stuck to him I will continue to post about his adventures in Hutta.

The good thing about SWTOR is that you don't need to rush, atleast that is what I am trying to say to myself...

Newbie Blogger Initiative and myself

The reason I occasionally blog is that I like to be able to look back on what I have played in the past and keep a "journal" of my gaming-life. It's really amusing to look back and see what I wrote about games ie. before release and then months after playing.

One example is the Collectors Edition of SWTOR. In my post here you can read that I had no intention of buying it. But lets take a look at my shelf... what do we have there? Isn't that a Malgus statue? Yupp!

So what am I trying to say? A blog really helps me create a red line between decisions and the outcome of them. To see how they evolve over time.

This morning I stumbled upon one of Syp's posts about "Newbie Blogger Initiative". I haven't registered on the forum, but I will definitly follow the discussions to learn some tips and pointers from the experienced guys and gals in there. This will hopefully aid me in my blogging crusade and give me some ideas.

Peace!

Skyrim(again) and SWTOR

Skyrim is indeed a great game! I played it the first time to level 17 then started playing SWTOR. I really enjoy SWTOR but recently I have evolved a interest in Skyrim again, I blame season 2 of Games of thrones. :D

But this time I wanted Skyrim to be more, realistic and RP to the MAX. So I read this excellent diary of a Nord Refugee called Hrisskar III! This really got me interested again, so I gave it a try!

I installed a few HD mods and started playing and really had a blast! So now I am trying to mix my gametime between SWTOR where i PVP alot and Skyrim. For me these two games really makes a good couple!

Its been a while...

But I am still here. Just realised that I haven't posted for a while. Been busy playing... It is actually quite funny from a personal view too have a blog, been able to look back on what you have played and what you thought about the different games you've tried.

After SWTOR was released I've pretty much been playing that game. And I really like it alot! The only downside would be that SWTOR is abit linear. I am missing some of the sandboxing from SWG. Not all, but some.

My main intention were to roll a Commando, but after playing one in late Beta I went for Vanguard instead. Even though I really miss beeing able to off-heal I found the Commando to be to stationary for me. So therefore I rolled Vanguard!

I really love the class! I usually end up regretting my class choice in games, but this time I am hooked. Love the looks, fast pace and the ability to both CC and do good DPS.

My Vanguard is now lvl 46 and at first I specced in the Shield tree, but more recently I have been playing with an Assault specc. Both builds are great in their own way. But currently i'm enjoying Assault specc more. Kinda reminds me about a heavy armored Sabotour from Rift with CC and close ranged abilities. Not to bad, because playing a Saboutour were the only thing I enjoyed in Rift. :D

WAR, SWTOR and MMO-vacation

It's been a while since the last time I wrote in the blog. My last post told you that I was going to play WOW with some friends. Well, that lasted for 3-4 days then I just couldn't play it anymore. Wow just gave me some weird retro anxiety. :) + I was still enjoying WAR.

That thing has changed now, the sad thing with WAR is because the lack of new updates and content, the game just feels shallow after playing it for a few months. Im not a 100% into PVE but sometimes I want to take a break from all PVP and just do someting different!

The other problem with WAR is the campaign. It pretty much forces you to stand with your 200 mates trying to take a keep that has 200 other guys defending. On top of that, trying this as a ST mdps isn't the most fun thing to do either. :) WAR has always been more about numbers then actual skill. That is sad.

So, time has come to take a mmo-break and play some Fifa12, BF3 and some other xbox games collecting dust. Still haven't completed Red dead redemption.

See you in SWTOR!

Casual WOW project

Haven't posted in a while. Mainly because vacation and lack of time.

I have been playing my WL, mostly alone because my guild seems more or less inactive atm. MY current RR is 75. Im not grinding WAR that much but I would really like to hit rr80 before SWTOR gets released. :)

Other then this, me and some mates have started new horde chars on Belnazzar. I really didnt see this one coming and I thought I would never play WOW again. But I have missed playing with them so of couse I tagged along!

Class choice wasnt easy since I have almost played every class ingame before. But I ended up with a Goblin Shaman, just because I hadn't played the race before. But I cant say I really liked the whole Sci-fi and silly quests that the goblin start area offered.

So this will be interesting, lets see how this unfolds in the future!

Vacation and SWTOR

I must admit that my online time has been somewhat limited lately. My vacation draws near and this week I've been to numerous parties. I have had a blast, but because of that, my game time has been limited. I just can't party the way I did ten years ago anymore :).
Nerf hangovers!

I dont think anyone have missed that we finally can preorder SWTOR! But the whole preorder thing isn't helping my SWTOR abstinence at all! It only makes it worse. Considering that it must be atleast a few month before release, Im guessing nov-dec.

So what edition did I preorder? First I was going for the Collectors Edition, but after a brief moment of sanity, I ordered the standard version instead. Even if I am a complete Star Wars junkie. My Stormtrooper armor at home are clearly an evidence of that!

So why did I not purchase the CE, here is a roundup!

Darth Malgus Statue
Cool figure nonetheless but I would value it alot more if it were Vader or a Stormtrooper.

FOB Security key
Im just too lazy to use one.

Journal of Gnost Dural
Would be a nice thing too read while waiting for SWTOR. But would hardly read it after release.

Cloth Galaxy Map
A map is always nice. But there are a difference between a map and a map. Too bad there weren't more pictures of it.

Music of TOR CD
I love soundtracks, but a CD? Can't remember that last time I ever listened to a CD. In Sweden we listen too Spotify. :)

In game content:
For me, starting up a fresh character with no stuff, is someting that I like. The CE Store made me interested thoguh, but in the long run, even if I understand why people pay extra for vanity stuff, I myself dont want to support that. Paying for the game + a monthly cost is enough for me.

Well there you have it! Did you buy the standard or the collectors edition?

Sunday RVR fun

Last night was a blast. Not only did my GF do a WAR comeback after almost 2 years. But we also had alot of fun playing together again. We rolled a Dok and a Chosen on Azgal and brought them to level 5. Not much but was indeed fun to just do some PQ's and Quests.

Later I swapped to my main and ended up in KV where we totally butchered Destro. But like you can see, we had numbers on our side. I don't know what happend to the Dessies though, almost looked like they gave up or went to bed early.

At the gates!

My normal luck...

College of Crap

This may sound a bit negative and I never really gave College of Corruption a 100% fair chance. But it just didn't appeal to me. I didn't even finish the event, like I usually do.

Analysing why I didn't like the scenario I came to the conclusion that it was because the layout was to "advanced". I personally don't like to run around on a number of different floors killing people(I don't like the Twisting Tower either).

I just want it basic, a open terrain, maybe some woodland and some hills thrown in. Like my all time favorite, Nordenwatch. Just love that scenario!

What did you think about the Sigmar Tide event and the scenario College of Corruption?

Tier 2 fun

Im just about to go to bed. But I just wanted to thank players on both sides, for the great fights we had in T2 this evening. Seems like the numbers are somewhat even, and that alot of people are having a great time in T2 atm.

In shadowlands after zone capture, cleaning duty. :)

I must say that I get the sense that more and more people are playing WAR nowadays. Maybe it could just be Norn though, seems active in the tiers I have been playing in lately.

I just end it here, and with some pictures that I took.

The traditional WC camping

Guarding the keep, perfect for a great shot :)

Aintez the Witch Hunter

Lately, I have been playing my WH alot. He is now L18/RR29. I love too solo, did it alot on my WL, but the WH has so much more tricks up his sleeve then a buggy and unreliable pet, with abilities tied to it. And tbh, T1-T3 is alot of fun now, since the RR cap increase.

My build is currently:
http://builder.arsenalofwar.com/CareerBuilder.aspx?Class=WH#0;0;3;;;3:;;0:0:0:0:

And RA build:
http://warstats.net/rbuilder/#00000000000000000000000004

First I was thinking about going full STR, but due it´s high cost im thinking about either go with crit or some more defensive stats.

At level 27 my goal is:
http://builder.arsenalofwar.com/CareerBuilder.aspx?Class=WH#0;0;9;;;3:9:7:;;0:0:0:0:

A nice dmg boost with Fanatical cleansing and a KD with Pistol Whip. The more I think about it, the more I want to focus on crit rather then defensive stats. Cause a dead target isn´t doing any dmg.

Rotations
I try to keep the rotations very basic. The "skill" of the WH class at lvl 18, comes more down too picking your fights and predicting enemy movement then pressing insane combinations of buttons.

Standard opening:
Burn armor, Feinted pos(if up), spam torment and be ready to hit confess for disarming melee opponents. I use Absolution as finisher 70% of the time due too Atonement.

When facing a caster, I try to use Silence the heretic when suitable.
And when facing a healer I try to use Silence the heretic just before I hit a 5 point Absolution, because of the spike dmg and posible death of the target.

Im feeling quite powerful in T2. It is only Doks that can be impossible to take down and SH´s can be hard aswell. Damn kiters! :)

I will continue to experiment with the Witch Hunter and write about my findings here on the blog.

Welcome!

Welcome to this newly started blog!

I have planned to start a blog for a long time. It will mostly be about WAR and gaming in general. I play a White Lion on Karak Norn named Argolo. I recently moved here from Badlands and joined the guild Inquisitors. Things are going great for both us and the server.

My personal reasons for blogging is...

- To think outside the box when playing games. Sometimes I feel that I just do the same things, play by the same routine etc. I want the blog to help me achieve a new approach to gaming. Explore the world, quests etc abit more. And I think blogging and posting stuff here will help that.

- I like to write guides both for myself and for other players. But I havent had a good place to post them lately so I havent been able to do that. Maybe this blog will help with that...?

- I want someplace where I can dish out my frustation on some games and good games aswell.

- Since my native tougue is swedish, my goal is also to improve my english writing skills.

So what will I post about? A little bit of everything. My main game is WAR atm so alot of posts will probably be about WAR in the nearest future. But I also play other games like SWTOR in the future, im a complete Star Wars junkie. Posts will go from anywhere to small twitter-like posts to larger posts.

So lets start here, and see how my motivation is a few weeks ahead. Hope you enjoy gaming from my perspective!
